The location and views are superb. It was our fourth visit to the hotel. Smoked salmon lunch in the corkscrew bar was excellent. Perhaps you should offer Guinness as well as Murphy's.

We did not like the "tasting menu" at dinner. Rabbit or suckling pig does not make a satisfactory dinner, however well cooked. We expected to be offered Burren lamb, beef, or fish, preferably a choice of all three, which we have had at your hotel before. When we were told the menu would be the same again next night we decided to shorten our stay, from two nights to one. The "tasting menu" (with no alternative) is definitely not appropriate for the location. We will not be back, unless you have a better menu.

Gourmet food, beautiful surroundings, and an excellent staff.

The comfort of staying in a beautiful hotel surrounded by a fine garden and a wonderful, peaceful countryside. The staff was kind and helpful, and the food was exellent, although rather expensive. Hopefully we will be able to come back, and I will recommend Gregans Castle Hotel to everybody telling me that they want to go to The Burren.

The only thing I missed was the possibility to go on longer walks/hikes directly from the hotel (not having to use the car first).

Staff was superior, led by James. He was welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. The ladies were pleasant, but not overly friendly. I wish Simon had introduced himself. And Machiek (Magic) the waiter was terrific. The location was a great way to start this trip.

breakfast, service. treated us as a unique client, knew names, set up tables which we kept throughout our stay, ordering drinks etc without having to sign each time. availability of boots, umbrellas, magazines, books. separate tv lounge with none in rooms, low key, no pressure, informal. delicious especially desserts. well-chosen wine list.

the plumbing while the fixtures are beautiful is a bit dated. (balanced shower bodies, please). better light over bathroom mirror. (not a serious complaint).

The food was outstanding; very surprising in such an out of the way place. This hotel is not a castle! Not a turret in sight. Our room did not have a good view but, I think you have to pay more for that. I would certainly recommend this hotel

    Scenery.

    1. Inconvenient check-in; we had to find the staff, although a person was peeking at us from behind a window curtain. 2. Plumbing; what wasn't broken leaked. 3. Dinner Food; touted as " gormet", the limited menu offered little choice, had literally no nutritional items, and was clearly designed for profit. 4. Amenities; having no television in the room would have been acceptable if there had been anything else to do! 5. Consideration; none! During our visit, a death in the family required us to cut our trip short. Upon informing the clerk we were led to believe that it would be no problem, but when leaving a bill for our entire intended stay was put in front of us. The owner then informed us that we had not given enough notice and therefore had to pay for two nights that we couldn't stay. This was not ethical. We would have understood some penalty, but under the circumstances a bill for the entire amount was not right. For perspective, we had spent a month traveling in Ireland and have nothing but good things to stay about every other place that we stayed. We encourage a visit to Ireland, but we have never in over forty years of travel been so poorly accommodated.

An item in the Sunday Independent, Life section, on the 4th of Sept. by Lucinda O'Sullivan was critical of certain aspects. We would like to mention that we found the staff to be welcoming, friendly and helpful and our experience was entirely different to those negatively mentioned in the article.

A very elegant hotel in beautiful surroundings and with charming staff.

Was last there 15 years ago and it was lovely and while there has been a change of some of the staff since, it is still one of our favorites. The ganora plant in the yard is amazing! till one of the most charming places to stay near Galway.

The Castle was quiet and peacful, The staff were wonderful. Dinner was an experience not to be missed.

I felt it was too expensive - in the middle of a recession.

As a person who has travelled extensively the food and and service was of the highest quality and the two dinners were as good as any I have anywhere in the world.

We stayed at Gregans Castle for a Food and Wine tasting evening. The food was to die for.

It is referred to as a castle which it is not. It is very remote, over 5 km from the nearest town. The rate for bed and breakfast is too expensive taking into consideration the present climate

Having travelled all over the world and dined in many fancy restaurants this was the best dining we ever had and the young Polish waiter made the dishes come alive with his expert knowledge of every item. We can see why it continues to earn top awards

Ireland were playing Wales in the quarter finals in New Zealand at 6 am on the morning of our departure. No tv in rooms, that was not a problem, one can see the reason why peace and quiet of the Burren should be a central theme of the stay. However the official tv under the stairs had a ten inch flickering screen. How in God's name could Ireland win on such a tiny screen. If the owners had a whip around over dinner they could have raised the €400-500 needed to buy a decent 50 inch screen
